Councilmember Lee joined the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office to kick off this year's Battle of the Badges, a friendly competition between various agencies to promote the importance and necessity of donating blood.
Council District 12 joined Volunteers Cleaning Communities for The Church at Rocky Peak's All Serve 2023 event, which brought the community together at various sites throughout the Valley for a morning of community service.
The Los Angeles Civil + Human Rights and Equity Department recently held its 1st Anniversary Celebration of the LA For All campaign. Local LA landmarks were lit up to commemorate this special occasion and the event had a community resource fair, live music, and food to celebrate.
I truly could not have been prouder of the CD12 community who came out in full force last weekend to show support and appreciation for our city's first responders.

I was proud to join with Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, Mayor Garcetti and the Trebek family to cut the ribbon on the Trebek Center which will provide 107 bridge housing beds in Northridge. The product of a partnership between the City of Los Angeles and Hope of the Valley, with the support of so many local residents and organizations, the Trebek Center will provide safe housing, case management and a full complement of supportive services to persons experiencing homelessness in our community.
Several young Angelenos from the LEE12 High School Leadership Program were recently gifted with a grant to start-up their own non-profits through our office's partnership with The Change Reaction. The students who received these grants were chosen based on whether they had already established a nonprofit or had begun taking the steps to launch one.
The City recently renamed Chase Park in West Hills to Sean Brown Park in honor of Senior Lead Officer Sean Brown. Officer Brown was a dedicated public servant who loved his family and his community and we hope this small tribute will always remind us of his dedication to our neighborhoods.
This week we harvested the first batch of kale from Los Angeles' first-ever indoor pod farm. This incredible pilot program made possible through a partnership with my office, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Electric Power Research Institute, and LAPD Devonshire PALS serves as an example of how we can sustainably bring farming to our urban communities.
