Update on Water Service Disruption in the Porter Ranch and Granada Hills Area

Due to the need for an emergency repair at a local LADWP water pump station, 9,200 customers in Granada Hills and Porter Ranch are experiencing a water service interruption as of approximately 7AM this morning. 

The affected area is bounded by Rinaldi Avenue to the south, Balboa Boulevard to the east, De Soto  Avenue to the west and the foothills & hills to the north.

Water Service Disruption Tonight in Porter Ranch & Granada Hills

Due to the need for emergency repairs at a local LADWP water pump station, LADWP expects water service to be disrupted in portions of Porter Ranch and Granada Hills later this evening. 

Earlier this afternoon, while water system crews were making repairs at a pump station that connects to a water tank that serves the area, a valve that controls the flow of water failed to open. This has resulted in water flow into the pipes serving the area to be cut off. 

Councilmember John Lee's Statement on Voting NO on City's 25-26 Proposed Budget

Councilmember Lee issued the following statement following his NO vote on the City's proposed budget for Fiscal Year 25-26.

"I want to start by saying that I don’t take any budget vote lightly. I know how much time and effort goes into drafting a budget, and I appreciate the work of the committee, the departments, and everyone who engaged in the process.

But after reviewing the proposed budget, and after all of the deliberations, this is simply not a budget that I can support.

Councilmember John Lee Introduces Legislation Seeking Injunctive Relief to Halt the Acceptance of Potentially Hazardous Debris at Sunshine Canyon Landfill

Heeding calls from community members and advocacy groups, Councilmember John Lee has introduced legislation aimed at preventing Sunshine Canyon Landfill from accepting the potentially hazardous soil and debris from burn areas due to the recent fires. This legislation requests the City Attorney to seek injunctive relief through a temporary restraining order against Republic Services and Browning-Ferris Industries for the acceptance of the hazardous soil.

Councilmember John Lee, Shepherd Church, and The Change Reaction Provide Direct Financial Relief to 60 Los Angeles Wildfire Victims Through Wildfire Direct Giving Fund

In a united effort to support those affected by the recent wildfires, Shepherd Church in Porter Ranch, Los Angeles City Councilmember John Lee, and The Change Reaction have joined forces to provide direct financial relief to individuals and families in need. A total of 60 local residents, identified by Councilmember Lee, Shepherd Church, and other community leaders, received checks ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 through The Change Reaction’s Wildfire Direct Giving Fund. 

Automated License Plate Reader Program Launches

Over the course of the last year, my office has been working closely with the Los Angeles Police Department and Bureau of Street Lighting on a plan to install 100 Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras in all communities throughout Council District 12.

Alongside LAPD Chief Dominic Choi and our officers, I was proud to officially announce the implementation of this technology and discuss the benefits it will bring to our neighborhoods.
