Due to the need for an emergency repair at a local LADWP water pump station, 9,200 customers in Granada Hills and Porter Ranch are experiencing a water service interruption as of approximately 7AM this morning.

The affected area is bounded by Rinaldi Avenue to the south, Balboa Boulevard to the east, De Soto  Avenue to the west and the foothills & hills to the north.

How the City is helping:

  • Crews are on site and are working as quickly and safely as possible to perform repairs to the valve. LADWP has requested support from a provider of high-capacity pumps and hoses to resupply water in the 54-inch trunkline feeding the water tank. They are coordinating closely with the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) to make the connection needed to resupply the tank.
  • LADWP and LAFD have coordinated to provide a water supply contingency plan, including providing water tankers for the area while work is in progress in case of an emergency.
  • LAPD is on alert
