Due to the need for emergency repairs at a local LADWP water pump station, LADWP expects water service to be disrupted in portions of Porter Ranch and Granada Hills later this evening.
Earlier this afternoon, while water system crews were making repairs at a pump station that connects to a water tank that serves the area, a valve that controls the flow of water failed to open. This has resulted in water flow into the pipes serving the area to be cut off.
Crews are on site and are working as quickly and safely as possible to perform repairs. While they continue to repair the valve, customers may lose water pressure. We urge customers in the area to immediately conserve water by turning off sprinklers, washing machines and dishwashers.
LADWP is initiating coordination with the Los Angeles Fire Department to develop a water supply contingency plan while repairs are made.
We appreciate your patience and cooperation while we work as quickly as possible to restore service.
We will provide additional updates as more information becomes available.
