As students across Council District 12 return to the classroom, I was thrilled to stop by Napa Street Elementary School alongside new LAUSD Superintendent Andrés Chait to welcome students, teachers, administrators, and staff back for another school year.
The first day of school is always an exciting time. It is an opportunity for students to reconnect with friends, meet their teachers, and begin a new year filled with opportunities to learn and grow. It is also a reminder of the tremendous work our educators, administrators, school employees, and parents do every day to support our young people and help them succeed.
Our local schools are at the heart of our neighborhoods, and my office is proud to maintain strong partnerships with LAUSD and school communities throughout Council District 12.
Whether we are helping improve campuses, supporting student programs, addressing public safety and traffic concerns, or connecting families with resources, we remain committed to being a reliable partner to our schools.
Every student deserves a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where they can reach their full potential. I look forward to continuing our work with Superintendent Chait, LAUSD leadership, local principals, teachers, parents, and community partners to ensure our students have the resources and opportunities they need.
To all our students, families, educators, and school staff, welcome back and best wishes for a safe, productive, and successful school year!
