In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to see more modifications to the current Safer at Home order. I know it feels long overdue, but we need to continue to be vigilant and carefully monitor data, including rates of infection, death, and hospital admission, as we relax restrictions. I want to see our businesses reopened and our residents back to work, but I also do not want to do that prematurely and without safety measures in place. Remember, we aren't going back to life as usual - we are entering a new reality - living with COVID-19 in our midst. And things will never get back to normal until we have a safe and effective vaccine for this virus, which is currently the number one cause of death in L.A. County.
Thank you all for your sacrifice and continued adherence to the Safer at Home order. I know it has not been easy, but we have flattened the curve and we've made tremendous progress. Let's not undo that. The health and safety of our residents are of paramount importance as we continue down the path of reopening the economy.
