As Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall so eloquently stated, “The measure of a country’s greatness is its ability to maintain compassion in a time of crisis.” When the pandemic of 2020 gripped our city and country, no one embodied that spirit more than Chatsworth’s very own Get Together Foundation.

Founded in 2004 by longtime Valley residents Kevin and Mare Wachs, the Foundation’s purpose is to inspire 1960’s ideals of peace, togetherness, and love to help solve contemporary problems such as systemic homelessness. Together with New York native and Special Projects Coordinator Lauri Reimer, this organization has been on a mission to serve the greater good.

Throughout the pandemic, the Get Together Foundation has offered help to our community in many different forms from hand-washing kits for our homebound seniors and unsheltered residents, to producing a landmark 11-hour telethon on April 25 which raised over $125,000 for the Los Angeles COVID-19 Relief Fund. The telethon featured iconic artists such as Jeff Bridges, Smokey Robinson, the Beach Boys, Carole King, Rick Springfield, and Sheila E.

Thank you Kevin, Mare, and Lauri for the work you are doing through the Get Together Foundation to serve our community!
