Jose Mendez serves as the Homelessness Director for Los Angeles City Council District 12. In this role, he manages Councilmember John Lee’s homelessness initiatives, ensuring that individuals experiencing homelessness receive critical services and resources. Simultaneously, he oversees timely responses to constituents’ concerns and calls related to homelessness in the district.
 

Before joining the CD12 team, Mendez worked in Council District 14, home to the highest concentration of homelessness in Southern California. His experience in CD14 has provided him with unique insights and expertise in addressing complex homelessness challenges.

With over 25 years of public service, Mendez has worked across various nonprofits and municipal agencies, bringing a wealth of knowledge and dedication to serving the community. His commitment to bridging resources and services reflects his passion for creating equitable solutions for all residents.

Outside of work, you can find Mendez spending time with loved ones, exploring new places, walking his Frenchie, Loki, and perfecting his BBQ skills.
